Definition of education according to ( Don Berg, Founder Attitutor Services) implies a process of attaining and assisting others to attain optimal attitudes that enable a person to perceive accurately, think clearly, and act effectively according to self-selected goals.
The Nigeria education system
This would also be a good opportunity to describe how the education system in Nigeria works. Nigerian kids grow up going to a primary school which is also known as elementary school, then a secondary school/grammar school ,the Secondary school also referred to as grammar school is broken up into segments, each lasting three years-junior secondary school (JSS) and senior secondary school (SSS). After successful completion of senior secondary school, students are required to undergo extensive testing called “WAEC,” which stands for the West African Examination Council. This group provides a standard and administers testing for much of West Africa. Upon successful completion of the WAEC exams, students can then apply for an admission into the university, polytechnic or colleges of education, begin an apprenticeship or get a job with the WAEC certificate There are three major categories of higher or tertiary education. One is postsecondary, which is non-university level training in technical and vocational fields. Students receive certificates of training for completing work-oriented courses. The second type of higher education institution consists of higher technical, but non-university level programs offered at technical colleges, polytechnics, and colleges of education. They usually offer a variety of options for students that lead to a National Diploma (ND) for two years of study or a Higher National Diploma (HND) for four years of study. The third type of tertiary institution is the degree-granting institution offering bachelor's and higher degrees.
There have been many arising differences and similarities between educations in different countries depending on the style the country required. However, There is a global demand for quality education by every individual worldwide in other to attain optimal attitudes that enable a person to perceive accurately, think clearly, and act effectively according to self-selected goals with the influx of international trade and diversification of languages. Hence, there is a general hunger for high quality education at any level which is why numerous students travel thousands of miles away from home to different parts of the world to acquire quality education. Nevertheless, I am writing about the differences/similarities between the education system in the UK and my home country, Nigeria

Some similarities between UK and Nigeria education system:
  • Both the countries educational system is based on British English.
  • Both have their education system divided into three different age groups which includes age 5 to 11, age 11 to 16 and the third group starts from age 16 and above.
  • The phases of school also possess the same name i.e. primary, secondary and high school or university.

Difference between UK and Nigeria education system:
The children in the UK start their schooling at the age of 5. There is no fixed age for the students of Nigeria to start their schooling. They can begin learning at any age whether they are 4 year old or starting after the age of 5.
  • In Nigeria the students can start their schooling even before they are five or even after they are five year old. In fact there is no particular age for them to start their schooling.
  • Another difference in the education system between Nigeria and UK is the government only funds the institutions that is run by the government, other private school expenses have to be sponsored by the guardians. In the UK, the students between the age group of 5 to 16 are funded by the government.
  • In the UK it is mandatory for a student to do their studies from a top level college before entering any university. On the other hand it is not necessary for the Nigerian students to go to any top class college before registering into universities. Hence many students start their university education before becoming 18.
